Library's Kindergarten Readiness Zone

Going to kindergarten can be intimidating for a child. But the Columbus Metropolitan Library is working hard to make sure you're only fretting about your kid eating a paste popsicle rather than adjusting to a new space.

The library's Karl Road branch, located at 5590 Karl Road, recently opened its new Kindergarten Readiness Zone as an addition to its existing Ready to Read programming. This pilot project is an area designed to mimic the layout and feel of an actual kindergarten classroom.

Magnetic walls, a Smartboard, bookshelves and subject-specific tables help kids acclimate to a new type of environment. The program also provides tips for parents on ways to prepare children for kindergarten.

Access to the space will be limited to children who will soon enter kindergarten. For more information on the library's Ready for Kindergarten programming, check out their website here.
