Forest Hills to host concert with Zac Brown Band
NEW YORK (AP) — The Forest Hills Stadium, a storied New York City sports and concert site, will launch a full music season this year.
The Zac Brown Band will perform June 21 at the Queens site, the stadium announced Friday. Tickets go on sale March 22. More concerts will be announced at a later date.
The stadium's prime ended in 1978 when the U.S. Open tournament moved 3 miles away to Flushing Meadows. It has hosted iconic acts including Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra and Bob Dylan.
The 16,000-seat stadium is entering the second phase of a multimillion dollar renovation project, which includes new seating.
Mumford & Sons performed at the venue's West Side Tennis Club when it reopened last August to a sold-out crowd.
