The Central Ohio Folk Festival returns this weekend to Battelle Darby Metro Park.

The 18th annual event, taking place from Friday through Sunday, features lots of great free activities including a humongous pot-luck supper Friday night, followed by the "worst song in the world" contest; hourly spotlight concerts Saturday and Sunday where you can hear a wide range of folk music – work songs, slave songs, Celtic tunes, love songs, sea shanties, 1960's protest, old English ballads, lullabies, singer-songwriter originals, and more.

There also will be a special children's area with performers leading kids' song and telling tall tales, plus an "instrument petting zoo" to let children handle folk instruments. The only activities for which there are modest fees are the Saturday 7 p.m. concert and several instructional workshops.
