Taking Pride in Their History

If you're looking for a way to celebrate Pride month before the parade next weekend, head to the Columbus Historical Society at COSI tonight for the opening reception of the Columbus Gay Men's Chorus 25th Anniversary Exhibition.

The chorus teamed up with the Historical Society and Columbus Metropolitan Library to create an exhibition that's essentially a giant scrapbook of the chorus' history, with wall panels displaying photos, newspaper articles, programs, written stories and more. "The whole story is just telling how we began, how we grew and where we are now," says chorus executive director Patrick Roehrenbeck.

The opening reception, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m., is a casual celebration that's open to all ages and gives visitors a chance to check out the show, enjoy wine and appetizers and mingle with chorus members, both past and present. The chorus's 25th season kicks off in October, and the exhibition will be on display through November.
