BIA Parade of Homes Preview
The annual BIA Parade of Homes showcase is happening next month-July 19 through August 3-and Columbus Monthly Home & Garden got a peek at the 12 still-in-progress builds during the parade's media day.
Located in the Trail's End development in Liberty Township, this year's parade is all about high-end luxury; the homes range in price from $600,000 to $1.1 million. Don't worry if you're not in the market for extravagant real estate, though. From color palettes to ingenious landscaping, there'll be inspiration for all homeowners. Here are some of my favorite highlights:
M/I Homes' build has a dual-staircase entryway, a classic kitchen and a first-floor terrace featuring a stunning view of the Powell countryside. Little details-like corrugated aluminum wainscoting in an upstairs bedroom-give the home a cool, modern-meets-traditional feel. Bonus: There's an arcade room in the basement.
Coppertree Homes built a contemporary farmhouse-complete with a barn-inspired garage-and will once again have the home decorated for Christmas during the parade. The highlight of the five-bedroom home is the striking three-level rotunda staircase, which leads to a walkout basement on the bottom floor. The first-story pub room-featuring real reclaimed wood siding-is executed beautifully.
The massive, 7,000-square-foot build from Compass Homes is the unofficial decorators' show house for the parade; 17 interior designers lent their style to rooms throughout the home, so come prepared to find color inspiration. Blendon Gardens (who also designed the landscape for six other parade homes) created a dog-friendly outdoor space complete with a turf dog run, and there's a dog shower in the first-floor mudroom.
