CMH Fashion Week Bridal Runway Show Spotlight: Josie Wills
CMH Fashion Week, Columbus' official fashion week, kicks off Oct. 12. We caught up with the six designers and boutique owners participating in the second annual bridal runway show to chat wedding-day fashion and more. Here, Josie Wills tells us what she has in store.
How did you get your start?
I learned how to sew from my grandmother before I could walk; sewing has taken me in many directions! Growing up, I showed horses all over the country, and I started to make my own show clothes. Other people were interested, so I started selling. I also competed in beauty pageants, and at one show another girl had the same gown as me. I swore that would never happen again. That inspired me to start designing gowns, and then it became more of a career.
Tell us about your bridal runway collection.
This year, I'm launching my bridal collection; I've never put one out before. I'm just so excited to show everyone what I'm been workign on. The collection was inspired by the outdoors; I kept thinking about a walk through the gardens or down the beach or in a field. Outdoor and destination weddings are so on-trend right now, and this is catering to that vibe. The gowns are really light and airy, wtih fun textures and a little bit of glitz and glam. There's some color in there, a few floral prints, a little baby blue. I think it's a bit unexpected.
