Shadowbox Live is auditioning young actors to play the role of "Tiny Tina" or "Tiny Tim" in their holiday musical production of Scrooge.

To audition, children must be between 10 and 14 years old and under 4-foot-11-inches in height. The role will have singing with some movement and spoken lines.

The audition takes place Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. at Shadowbox Live, which is located at 503 S. Front St. in the Brewery District. This is an open-call audition, so no appointments will be taken in advance. Bringing a resume and headshot would be helpful.

Shadowbox Live is the largest resident theatre company in the U.S. and employs more than 45 full-time artists. Presenting four different shows totaling 8-10 performances every week, Shadowbox Live is a professional theatre company. Although Shadowbox has a very aggressive educational component for minors with its Shadowbox Academy, it is important to note that it is not a children's theater. Those auditioning for this production must exhibit maturity and responsibility commensurate with their age.

And this just in: Another audition for kid actors!

The JCC and Gallery Players are excited to announce it will host auditions for its December play, Korczak's Children, at 7 p.m. on Oct. 20 and 21. Those auditioning may attend one of these nights and are encouraged to bring a resume and headshot.

The play tells the story of Dr. Janusz Korczak, highlighting his love and sacrifice for the children of his Warsaw orphanage, as he faced unspeakable terror during WWII in Nazi-occupied Poland.

Korczak's Children offers multiple roles for all ages, including that of Dr. Janusz Korczak who will be played by an older male, 50-65 years old, and 6 other roles for adult males, ages 30-60 years old, are available. Two roles for older women, 40-55, are available, and one role, that of a female soldier, is available for a 20-30-year-old female. For children, 9 parts for boys and 9 for girls are available, for ages ranging from 8-18.

Auditions will consist of a cold reading from the play, and prepared monologues are welcome but not necessary. Any photo may constitute a headshot. Auditions will take place in the Roth/Resler Theater of the JCC at 1125 College Ave., Columbus, OH 43209. To learn more, contact Jared Saltman at jsaltman@columbusjcc.org.
