Digfest brings booze and food to Grandview Yard this weekend

Anthony Dominic, Crave

Foodie events don't get much more non-committal than Grandview's Digfest. Entry to this fifth annual celebration of local booze is totally free; just show up to Grandview Yard this Saturday, June 13 (with your dog, if you'd like-they're allowed), and peruse dozens of local and regional beer, wine, liquor, food and craft stands at your leisure. See something you want to try? Exchange cash or credit for drink tickets, priced at $3 apiece. One ticket gets you a sample; two get you a full pour. Tickets are also valid at food stands, which this year include newcomers Matt The Miller's Tavern, Qdoba Mexican Grill and Hofbrauhaus Columbus.

This is a record-setting year for beer vendors, says organizer Laura Oldham. Thirty four breweries are represented, including most Columbus-area breweries-think Wolf's Ridge Brewing, Zauber Brewing, Smokehouse Brewing Co. and Lineage Brewing-plus big-name out-of-towners such as Jackie O's, MadTree, Fat Head's and The Brew Kettle. Check out the full lineup here.

One stand not to miss, Oldham says, is the Grandview Craft Beer Alliance's (GCBA) cask table. From 5 to 9 p.m., the GCBA will tap six specialty beers, like Elevator Brewing Co.'s cucumber-lime session IPA and Actual Brewing Co.'s lemongrass saison with ginger and Sichuan peppercorn.

Digfest runs from 4 to 10:30 p.m., with free parking along Yard Street and at both nearby garages. Local bands Shinebox, The High Definitions and the New Basics Brass Band will also perform throughout the evening.
