Summer time in Ohio means county fair time.

County fairs are affordable day out for families. Youngsters will enjoy the chance to learn about farm animals, explore the midway and view various 4-H projects. Families willing to head to the contiguous counties can visit a fair a month during the summer.

First up is the Pickaway County Fair, which runs from June 22-27.

In July, fairgoers can stay local and visit the Franklin County fair from July 18-25.

Licking County's fair, which is known as the Hartford Independent Fair, is set for Aug. 9-15.

Delaware County will hold its event Sept. 19-26.
