Ariana Grande apologizes for saying 'I hate America'

NEW YORK (AP) — Ariana Grande says she's sorry for saying "I hate America" in a recent video that leaked of her in doughnut shop.

In a statement to The Associated Press on Wednesday, the singer says she's a proud American. She added that "what I said in a private moment ... was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words."

In a video posted Tuesday by TMZ, Grande says "What ... is that? I hate Americans. I hate America" when a tray is doughnuts appears in front of her.

Grande said her choice of words comes from a healthy person and being upset with "how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences."
