The Columbus Metro Parks have organized a variety of events to keep families busy on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It's a great opportunity to bundle up and experience one of the area's parks in a different season.

Events include walks, games and information about how various plants and animals spend the winter. The following is a sampling of events taking place onMonday, Jan. 18:

Blacklick Woods, Prairie Games and a two-mile walk,10 a.m.Meet at the nature center, 6975 E. Livingston Ave., Reynoldsburg 43068. Appropriate for children aged 6 to 12.

Blendon Woods, Morning Munchies,7 to 10 a.m.Enjoy drinks and snacks indoors while watching wildlife at the nature center's feeders. The nature center is located at 4265 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Westerville 43081. The program is open to all ages.

Highbanks Park, All About Owls,10 a.m.All ages are invited to come to the nature center and learn about owls through a variety of activities. The nature center is located at 9466 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center 43035.
