March is the perfect month to explore the origins of the maple syrup that sweetens your weekend pancakes.

Central Ohio offers several opportunities to learn about the maple sugaring - the process of collecting sap from maple trees and boiling it into syrup. The events usually involve a walk in the woods to find trees to tap, a discussion of the process and a chance to sample the syrup.

The day begins with a pancake breakfast served with local syrup and a trek to the sugar shack.
