Gahanna's Great Outdoors "Throwback" Parks & Rec Party is just the ticket for parents nostalgic for the summers of their youth. Head to Friendship Park, 150 Oklahoma Ave., from 6:30 to 11 p.m. July 30 for an evening of old-fashioned fun. Kids can partake in activities popular in the 1970s and '80s, such as Olympic-themed track and field games, wacky camp games, stickball, tire races, music, crafts, canoeing and hiking. Wrap up the evening with a screening of Swiss Family Robinson under the stars, along with a campfire, s'mores and a sing-along. For more information, go to

Do you know of a Columbus classroom in need of musical instruments or equipment? You'll want to check out the Young Mozart Scholars Fund. This new program created by the owners of Mozart's Restaurant, Bakery and Piano Cafe in Clintonville has a mission to nurture the next generation of student musicians by providing equipment and services to youth in need. The group accepts musical instruments, equipment and sheet music to be donated to local classrooms, and also offers free and reduced-cost music lessons through local partners. Learn more at
