Zoombezi Bay slid into a spot on Parents magazine's list of the 10 Best Water Parks of 2016.

The 22.7 acre water park, owned and operated by the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, opened in 2008. It offers a dozen large water slides, two children's areas, a wave pool and two lazy rivers (one is adults-only).

How did Zoombezi make the cut? Parents' editors said they took into account the presence and training of lifeguards; variety of activities tailored to each age group; and family-friendly amenities such as nursing areas, seating, and food and drink options.

The other nine parks on the list are:

Aquatica By SeaWorld (Orlando, Florida; San Antonio, Texas; and San Diego, California)

Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark at Camelback Resort (Tannersville, Pennsylvania)

Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park (Orlando, Florida)

Great Wolf Lodge (14 locations nationwide, including Mason and Sandusky, Ohio)

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions (Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin; Poconos, Pennsylvania; and Sandusky, Ohio)

LEGOLAND Water Park (Winter Haven, Florida, and Carlsbad, California)

Massanutten Resort (McGaheysville, Virginia)

Schlitterbahn Waterparks and Resorts (the magazine specifically cited New Braunfels and South Padre Island, Texas, among the company's five locations)

Wilderness Resort (Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin)
