Etsy Eight: August

Emma Frankart Henterly

Etsy is a go-to resource for many couples planning their weddings. But did you know that you can shop handmadeandlocal? Check out our top Etsy picks for this month, all from shop owners based right here in Columbus.

Maids and matrons of honor who are looking to throw the most elegant of bridal showers would do well to kick things off with this classy black, white and gold shower invitation from LettersandAlchemy. It's a digital download, so the $9 price tag gives you a file to print as many copies as you like. If you like the "share your favorite recipe" aspect of bridal showers, you can download an additional card for that.

Another printable we love is this sparkler sendoff sign from SasafrasPrintables. For $10, the shop will design your file and send it to you to download and print at will. There are several sizes available at that price point, so you're sure to get the exact style of sign you need. (Want more signage in this style? SasafrasPrintables has tons to choose from.)

For the eco-conscious couple who still want to make a big statement, there's the wooden invitation suite from CheerUpCherup. You read that right: It's a wedding invitation made out of a sheet of real cherry wood. The material is produced with fewer trees than its paper counterpart, and it's sustainably sourced in the U.S. The set, which costs $7, includes the custom invitation, a matching response card and envelopes for both. It's not cheap, but it makes one incredible impact.

When "vintage style" just won't do, there's ScotchStreetVintage, which specializes in true vintage pieces sourced from estate sales and the like. This set from the 1950s features a 0.2 carat diamond in a 14K white gold setting, and the wedding band has a hook to help hold it to the engagement ring. It's a miniscule size 4.5, but the ring can be sized up for those of us with more modern-sized fingers. The $550 price tag is a steal for what's sure to become a treasured family heirloom.

Grooms, do you love music? This tie clip is for you. It's only $10 and is a perfect, yet subtle, finishing touch on your big day. The best part? Shop CuffMedicine will ship it anywhere in the U.S. for free.

Another piece of vintage jewelry, this time from HometownVintage, makes a great bridal accessory. This bracelet features rhinestones and a rhodium finish on the back, so you know your wrist won't turn green. It's straight from the 1960s and costs just under $60.

Stuck on what to get your 'maids as a thank-you? Why not help them unwind post-wedding with a wood-wick soy candle. VintageCreated makes them for bridesmaids as well as maids and matrons of honor. They're $16 each and you can choose from more than 20 scents like cotton blossom, vanilla bourbon, white tea and ginger, firewood and more.

Chances are that after your big day, your wedding dress will be cleaned, preserved and boxed up to be admired from afar. Help keep the memory of how that gorgeous gown draped just so with a custom illustration from LittlePaperDresses. Just send in a clear photo of the dress and any accessories (like shoes or flowers) that you'd like included, along with the $70 payment, and your illustration will be custom created. You can have a sketch of your partner's ensemble added as well, or one of your bridesmaids' dress, for a perfect keepsake.

That's it for this edition of the Etsy Eight. Check back next month for more from our favorite Columbus shops!
