Happy Anniversary to Two Couples!

Emma Frankart Henterly

Today we're celebrating two couples from our current issue; both Cortney and Scott Finley and Katie and Paul Martino have their first wedding anniversaries today. Congrats to the Finleys and the Martinos! We hope you enjoy this look back at your weddings.

Cortney says one of the biggest highlights of her and Scott's ceremony, at The Barn at Heather Glen in Sugar Grove, was seeing Scott for the first time. She also remembers "looking out into the crowd during the ceremony and thinking how nice it was to have all the people we love in one place." What a sweet sentiment! The casual, vintage event featured bridesmaids who picked their own dresses in bride-approved colors, food trucks and a wedding cake made by Scott's mother. In fact, much of the wedding featured DIYed elements: Cortney's mom made quilts to cushion guest seating on hay bales, Cortney made the centerpieces in her kitchen, Scott and Cortney's stepdad made a bar, wooden beer cooler and yard Jenga, and Cortney made bouquets at The Flowerman with help from her friend, sister-in-law and mom. Katie and Paul's intimate outdoor ceremony took place under an oak tree at Brookside Golf and Country Club. The wedding was full of personal touches, from the string quartet playing the couple's favorite songs to the stone in Katie's engagement ring-it was from Paul's late mother's engagement ring. Katie also wore a bracelet that Paul made his mom when he was little. Guests traveled from 11 different states to celebrate with the newlyweds. "It was very special to have so many people there for us," Katie says. (Want to see more from this wedding? Check out our real wedding feature here.)
