Makeup Monday: Ensuring a Streak-Free Face

Your makeup is a crucial element to your wedding day look; if you've opted to do your own, you might feel overwhelmed with all the options out there. Luxury, high-end, drugstore … what really is the best option? And what will stay on all day through the tears, laughs, photos, eating and everything in between?

Beautiful eye makeup can be ruined by not-so-beautiful, runny mascara. If you're a crier (like we are), you definitely want to opt for a waterproof option. And even if you're not prone to waterworks, you'll still want something that won't budge all day and night.

We did some research on which mascaras have the best reviews for lasting the test of time. Here's what we found:

1) Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara

You'll probably recognize the bright pink and green tube of this best-seller; the waterproof version is said to not only resist smudging, but also lengthen your lashes. Available in Very Black and Brownish Black, $6.49.

2) Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara

This mascara promises to give you a "full fan effect" without clumping. If volume is what you're looking for, Lash Sensational may be the way to go. Available in Black Pearl, $8.99.

3) Bobbi Brown No Smudge Mascara

If you're aiming for a more natural, buildable look, this high-end option from Bobbi Brown ensures a long-wearing finish that curls and lengthens your lashes. This "raincoat for lashes" is often sold out on Sephora's website, which seems like a good sign. Available in Black, $28.

4) Clinique Lash Power Mascara Long-Wearing Formula

Some reviews on this mascara mention that it is tough to get off but was worth the extra effort for the staying power. The formula held up against rain, swimming and tears. Available in Black Onyx and Dark Chocolate, $17.50.

5) CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Waterproof Mascara

If you are blessed with long lashes (lucky you!), this formula is perfect. It claims to volumize and hold curl all day without flaking or smudging. Available in Very Black, Black and Black Brown, $7.99.
