Patrons of Main Library in Downtown Columbus soon will have more education and entertainment options.

Columbus Metropolitan Library has announced two new series, the first of which is Family Programs at Main Library. It debuts at 11 a.m. March 23 with author and musician Jim Gill, who will perform a concert aimed at children ages 8 and younger. Kids and parents are encouraged to sing and dance along. Seating is first come first served. 

The series continues at 10:30 a.m. April 19 with an all-ages performance of The Magic Flute by Opera Columbus. Next up is the Summer Reading Club Kickoff, from 10 a.m. to noon June 3. Other events include the PBJ & Jazz Family Concert Series, Book to Film Series, Hands On Chemistry and Holiday Open House.

All events are free, as is the first hour of parking in the garage at Main Library, 96 S. Grant Ave. For more information, go to columbuslibrary.org/special-events.

The new Carnegie Author Series at Main Library will get underway with the author of two children’s books, Enzo and the Christmas Tree Hunt! and Enzo’s Very Scary Halloween. Garth Stein, who also has written five novels and a play, will do an author talk at 2 p.m. April 9, followed by a Q&A and book signing. The event is free, but attendees must register at columbuslibrary.org/special-events.
