Implicit in the title "Universe Tribe" is both commonality and distinction. Not just a name for an exhibition, it's what Lisa McLymont calls her "ongoing body of work." For McLymont, it's about unity and togetherness without ignoring diversity and uniqueness. "'Universe Tribe' is sort of like the futuristic society or utopia that I'd like to see us grow towards," McLymont said. "The core message of 'Universe Tribe' is to live and love.  


The Gories play Sick Weekend 2 at Ace of Cups

Detroit garage-rock outfit the Gories' posthumous fame rose to a new level when Detroit native Jack White, then of the White Stripes, repeatedly mentioned the Gories in interviews as he ascended from local luminary to real-deal rock star. The resurgence in interest eventually led the trio to reunite in 2009, and the trio has played occasional reunion shows ever since, including an upcoming performance at Sick Weekend 2. 


OSU Theater presents ‘Forbidden Zones: The Great War’

This new work, conceived and directed by OSU theatre professor Lesley Ferris, is verbatim theater, using first-person accounts (letters, books and other archives) as well as art and music to tell the story of people at the heart of the conflict – the heiress who built and operated a hospital for the French military, the doctor using new Freudian techniques to treat combatants facing shell shock, two deserting soldiers, an African-American nurse and more.
