Two Dollar Radio announced it will open a brick and mortar location on Parsons Avenue later this year.

Local book publisher and film producer Two Dollar Radio has announced it will open a combo bookstore/bar/cafe in September.

The 1,800-square-foot 1124 Parsons Ave. location will be called "Two Dollar Radio Headquarters,” and will not only carry Two Dollar Radio titles, but a selection of almost exclusively independently published books, as well. Two Dollar radio’s publishing operation will be housed at the same location.

The cafe and bar will serve One Line Coffee, as well as tea, sandwiches salads and more, and will have cocktails, wine and draft beer, featuring Hoof Hearted Brewing varieties on tap.

“As a publisher, most of our work is solitary, and we don't get a ton of opportunities to connect directly with people — mostly just at events like Columbus Flea and Independents' Day. So we couldn't be more excited to engage with Columbus' cultural community and hopefully become a valuable third space in town that, in addition to books, offers food, coffee and booze too loud to ignore,” co-founder Eric Obenauf told Alive in an email.

The company signed a lease on the property last month and expects to begin interior construction next week.

“We’ve been planning this expansion now since 2015 and have finally found the perfect location. A lease has been signed with build-out beginning early July,” co-founder Eliza Wood-Obenauf said in a statement.
