COTA Offers Youth Summer Pass

With schools out and summer in session, the Central Ohio Transit Authority is giving students unlimited access to their home city with the Summer Youth Pass for youths 17 and under, which went on sale May 15.

The pass sells for $62 and provides unlimited rides during the months of June, July, and August. COTA spokesperson Lisa Myers says the pass is “a great way to provide access to youths in the summer for jobs and recreational activities around Columbus.”

COTA buses run through Downtown Columbus to the Short North and University District, and as far outside of I-270 as New Albany and Grove City. There are convenient stops near attractions like the Columbus Museum of Art, COSI, and many of the libraries, parks, and stores in the city. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has its own line, the Zoo Bus, which runs from Downtown to the zoo all summer.

To purchase a pass, mail a written request or visit COTA Pass Sales at 33 N. High St. Downtown. Purchase requires proof of age, such as a driver’s license or state ID, a birth certificate or a student ID with a photo (copies of ID must accompany mailed requests).

The passes exclude Mainstream service, which COTA offers for riders with disabilities. A single-ride fare is $2, and standard COTA passes are $62 per month. For more information about the summer passes, visit or call (614)-228-1776.
