Daily Bulletin: Start a Kids Book Club

Melissa Kossler Dutton

Keep your kids reading this summer by starting a book club in your neighborhood. Book clubs are a wonderful way for children to stay engaged in reading and can help them learn to discuss and analyze books as well as provide opportunities to learn new things.

PBS Parents suggests making sure your child is on board with the idea before starting a book club. For other tips and considerations, go to pbs.org/parents/education/reading-language/reading-tips/how-to-start-a-book-club-for-kids.

Consider including a themed craft or a game during the meeting so the club doesn’t feel like school, recommends Scholastic, which also offers a list of how-tos: scholastic.com/parents/resources/article/parent-child/start-book-club-kids.
