Get a jump on your Halloween decorating by making a blown-glass pumpkin at one of the region’s hot shops. Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Glass Axis and The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art & Technology all allow children ages 10 and older (with an adult companion) into their studios for this seasonal treat.

The conservatory is taking reservations for “Hot Glass Studio Nights: Pumpkins” on its website, fpconservatory.org/calendar. Classes, $60 per person ($54 for members), run through Nov. 1.

Glass Axis, the nonprofit studio in Franklinton, offers opportunities to work with a professional glass blower to make pumpkins every fall. This year, classes are scheduled Oct. 5-7. Cost is $59 to $69. For details, go to glassaxis.org/product/pumpkin-patch-special-blown-glass-pumpkin.

Classes at The Works in Newark begin Sept. 22 and run through Nov. 17. These workshops, $50 per person ($40 for members), are open to ages 9 and older. For more information, go to attheworks.org/glass-blowing-classes.
