“The Polar Express”

’Tis the season for classic holiday movies, and several Central Ohio venues can help your family get their fill.

COSI will host its annual series of “The Polar Express” screenings Dec. 7-9 and 14-16. The film will be shown in the National Geographic Giant Screen Theater (but note the movie is in 2D). Kids can wear pajamas, and hot chocolate and cookies will be served. A Polar Express Live Science Show begins 30 minutes before showtime. Tickets are $10 ($8 members).

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is showing “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 4D” daily in the theater in Shores Play Park. Tickets are $5 ($4 members, free for gold members).

The Holiday Classics series at Gateway Film Center near Ohio State University includes the 70th anniversary of “Christmas in Connecticut” (1948; Dec. 7-13), “The Shop Around the Corner” (1940; Dec. 14-20) and “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946; Dec. 21-27). Plus, the Dec. 8 edition of Saturday Morning Cartoons will feature a holiday theme, and a sensory-friendly version of “Arthur Christmas” will be shown Dec. 15.

The Drexel Theatre near Bexley will continue “The Polar Express” through Dec. 10, but note that several shows already are sold out. Screenings of “Elf” run until Dec. 16.

Marcus Theatres will screen “Christmas Vacation,” “Miracle on 34th Street” and “The Polar Express” Dec. 7-13.
