Behind the Scenes at Columbus Monthly's Spring Fashion Shoot

If you’ve seen the pretty, pastel-toned photos in our April fashion feature, “Spring Style,” you probably wouldn’t guess that many of them were shot in our third-floor conference room. This spring, home and style editor Sherry Beck Paprocki took a break from her tradition of locating the twice-a-year fashion shoot at scenic sites (Granville’s Buxton Inn last fall, the Citizens Building the prior spring) and brought the action home to our offices.
One benefit was that photographers Tim Johnson and Rob Hardin didn’t have to schlep their equipment to a remote location. On the other hand, the project necessitated a few improvisations: a small meeting room was commandeered to serve as model Cara’s dressing room, and Cara and her male counterpart, Jared, were forced to walk through the Columbus Monthly newsroom (which we share with Alive, Parent, CEO and assorted special publications) between sessions. Both handled the situation with aplomb, and the result was the beautiful spread in the April issue, on newsstands now and available online later this month.
