Homemade brunch is great, but why not venture outside this Mother's Day?

Brunch and flowers may be the traditional way to celebrate Mother’s Day, but why not consider spending some quality time together in the great outdoors.

Metro Parks and Preservation Parks of Delaware County both have special all-ages Mother’s Day events planned for May 12. Even better, all of them are free. Here’s the rundown:

  • Mother’s Day in the Park, Spend quality time with Mom as you make crafts together and complete a scavenger hunt. Noon to 2 p.m. Homestead Metro Park, 4675 Cosgray Road, Hilliard. metroparks.net
  • Mother’s Day Garden Adventure, Help plant a vegetable and pollinator garden, then stop by all summer to help it grow. 12:30-2 p.m. Blendon Woods Metro Park, 4265 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Westerville. metroparks.net
  • Moments with Mom: A Mother’s Day Adventure, Plant a tree seedling, create a Mother’s Day gift, have a snack, hike a memory lane trail and visit the new wildlife blind during this annual event. 1-4 p.m. Deer Haven Park, 4183 Liberty Road, Delaware. preservationparks.com
  • Mother’s Day Tram Ride, Take a tram ride through the park. 2-3 p.m. Blacklick Woods Metro Park, 6975 E. Livingston Ave., Reynoldsburg. metroparks.net
