What you missed in Columbus for Sept. 16
The Jack White-led Raconteurs headlined a Friday concert at Express Live outdoors that reviewer Curtis Schieber described as both well-rehearsed and spontaneous, writing, “While songs from its recent album ‘Help Us Stranger’ built the frame for the set, the show was never a marketing tool for the new release.”
Also over the weekend, the Ohio State Buckeyes continued its early season dominance, steamrolling Indiana University 51-10, though, to be fair, Indiana has always been more of a basketball state (see: “Hoosiers,” Larry Bird, etc.). The Bucks should receive more of a challenge this weekend, playing host to Miami… Wait, scratch that. It’s Miami of Ohio, not Florida, so expect yet another blowout.
In case you missed it, the fourth Democratic debate is set to take place at Otterbein University in Westerville on Oct. 15 (and, if needed, Oct. 16, as well). There will be a lottery for tickets, which you can enter here.
Cars frontman Ric Ocasek, who died at home in New York City on Sunday, had a number of local connections, which we documented here. (Also, we’re reasonably sure that someone somewhere is mistakenly queuing up “Stacy’s Mom” in tribute to the late musician at this very moment.)
