Blackoutfest XII

If you're going to skip any part of our Deep Focus Film Festival next weekend (gasp! chortle!), it had damn well better be for rock 'n' roll's sake. One of the few legitimate excuses can be found down in Athens at The Union, the former-speakeasy-turned-rock-n-roll-heaven on the campus of Ohio University. From April 19-21, the bar hosts its 12th annual Blackoutfest, a three-night gathering of some of the loudest, trashiest bands the world over.

As you can see, there's lots of Ohio action in there, plus a large helping of touring bands to get you your money's worth. That is, unless you don't spend money on it because you win tickets here. Festival main man Scott Winland has offered free passes to the first four people who respond. So comment, send me an e-mail with your name or whatever. This is your chance for free rock.

Just don't forget about our freaking film festival.
