Your Weekend In Music: June 8-10

Tree of Snakes is putting on my most anticipated show. The band is saying farewell to bassist Mike Hinze with one of the most solid local lineups ever assembled: Necropolis, Envelope and Times New Viking. It's happening tonight at Bernie's, 1896 N. High St., and this pretty much explains why it will rule.

Another hot show tonight should be Crimson Sweet, The Means and Flash Darlings at Cafe Bourbon Street, 2216 Summit St. If you like your guitars loud and your screams gutteral, tonight's the night.

Tomorrow I'm going to check out some of the Emergenza finals at Little Brother's, 1100 N. High St., where they're deciding who advances from Columbus to the next round of the international battle of the bands. Out of the finalists, I've only heard of BlackCoin, Morning Round and Black Spyral Dancer, and I've seen none of the bands before, so it should be quite the baptism into a new corner of local music for me. Check for more details on the competition.

It's kind of a slow weekend as far as marquee shows go, but the flood of late June is about to begin. Be prepared.
