What To Do Tonight: Baseball or Wilco

Let's get this out of the way first: There's nothing I would call "appointment viewing" on TV tonight except game 4 of the ALCS (8 p.m., Fox). I guess you could watch Reaper (9 p.m., The CW), but as you'll see in this week's paper, I've soured on that show a bit. If you hate sports, there are plenty of unspectacular but passable options, including Law & Order: SVU (10 p.m., NBC) and Beauty and the Geek (8 p.m., The CW). And the Food Network has a new show at 10 p.m. called Two Dudes Catering. You get the idea.

OK, one more show. I've never heard of it, but Wordplay (10 p.m., PBS) is about crossword puzzles. If it's anything like the movie of the same name, it should be superb.

Let me spotlight a couple more concerts organized by reputable folks and then let's call it a night:

Great Northern comes to Skully's, 1151 N. High St., with Minipop and The Hot Damns.

The Narrator and The Birthday Suits visit Cafe Bourbon Street, 2216 Summit St., with local support from newish bands Animal Cubes and Red Hypergiant.
