What To Do Tonight: No baseball means the chance to live life

Discovery Channel also starts a new season of Storm Chasers at 10 p.m., and the BET Hip-Hop Awards (NOT featuring T.I.) air at 8 p.m.

Let's turn our attention to live music:

The most appealing show tonight, as far as I can tell, is The Raveonettes with Nicole Atkins and Gliss at The Basement, 391 Neil Ave. And yes, it's appealing even though it's at The Basement, Columbus' most-maligned music venue and deservedly so. $12 cover, 7 p.m. door. Check my preview (scroll to the bottom) for more.

Also appearing tonight are a pair of former youth group staples who have gained quite a bit of mainstream notoriety, Switchfoot and Relient K. Not sure if tickets are still available, but they're $26, and the show starts at 7. This makes me sort of wistful for the days of breathless anticipation when your favorite band came to town, especially since 12-year-old me would be so excited for this. I guess I still do get really excited for shows (LCD Soundsystem, check), but not like I did when I was a kid. I feel so jaded now. (I guess Harry was right.) By the way, this tour is called the Appetite for Construction Tour, no joke.
