Song of the Day: British Sea Power

For a British band whose previous work had drawn from heady themes -- Russian literature, existentialism and, of course, naval strength -- "Lights Out for Darkness" is pretty straightforward. On this album, bearing an absolutely awful title, it's clear that British Sea Power loves rock music. Also, they play it well, bringing in more mainstream post-punk sounds into a weirder, wider world. Here, a circle of influence comes full circle: This track sounds much like Editors and Interpol, two bands that before had taken cues from this foursome.
