What To Do Tonight: Noise, narratives and not much else

Sometimes I fear I will scare some of you with show picks like this, but here goes: If you're a fan of experimental music, make the trek Downtown to Skylab, 57 E. Gay St. #5, for Providence's own White Mice. The Load Records stalwarts look and sound a little like this:

They'll be joined by local Load labelmates Sword Heaven, death metalheads Locusta and England's DJ Scotch Egg. Show starts at 8 p.m., costs $5 and is BYOB.

If you're not up for all that abrasion, consider the open mic night at Andyman's Treehouse, 887 Chambers Rd. Tonight's theme is a tribute to R Kelly's Trapped In the Closet. Performances start at 9 p.m. and continue all night.

And while there's not much on TV again tonight (post-strike episodes of the good stuff should be starting up soon), you can always turn to Top Chef: Chicago (10 p.m., Bravo) for some decent entertainment.
