Andyman's changing hands

In the years since Davis and Fallon bought the place, it's developed into a crucial component of the local music scene and a fine hideaway for a laid-back weeknight drink. And even if that tree in the middle of the performance room has obscured many a view, it adds a little extra character to an already unusual space. I would hate to see Andyman's lose its identity, so it's good to see Phil Palma, one of the regulars, will be taking the helm.

Davis and Fallon's full statement after the jump...

On Monday June 16, 2008 -- after nine fun-filled years -- Quinn Fallon and Andyman Davis will turn over ownership of Andyman's Tree House to Robert Palma. The bar will then be managed by Robert's sons, Phil and Rob Jr.

Join us for a fond farewell Friday, June 13 when The Whiles, The Kyle Sowashes, and the X-Rated Cowboys play. And then on Saturday, June 14 be there for the Willie Phoenix Band rocks out and the Ghosts of Tree House Past play a bunch of acoustic sets.

Quinn Fallon, longtime member of X-Rated Cowboys, will likely stay on to help with booking and do some advising. He is looking forward to finding himself on the other side of the bar for the first time after 19 years of bartending jobs.

Andy will continue to work at CD101 where he is the program director and the afternoon DJ.

Quinn and Andy purchased the bar on Memorial Day weekend 1999 and it soon became known as a loveable dive-bar that happened to be frequented by many musicians.

Over the years several people of note have jouneyed into the bar and often done unplanned sets on the fly. This list would include Mike Peters of the Alarm, Evan Dando, Gene Loves Jezabel, and the Jayhawks. The bar has also been graced with visits from Pete Yorn, Cracker, Pat Di Nizzio, and Dan Baird.

In 2007, the Tree House made the cut for Esquire magazine's "Best Bars in America."

Quinn and Andy wish to single out several longtime employees who have really made the bar the special place it is. All our best to Amber Hersch, Joe Peppercorn, Tim Fulton, John Miksa and Jason Courtney.

Thanks to all the bands, fans, and visitors for nine great years!
