Song of the Day: Portishead

With its dark, brooding tones and backroom implications, Portishead's ubiquitous single "Sour Times" would've sounded at home on a James Bond soundtrack. "The Rip," a great song from only the band's third studio album in more than 15 years, combines the Portishead you know, the Massive Attack you remember and the Stereolab you dearly love. It's dark, soft, layered and as intimate as anything they've ever released. There world is dark -- mysterious, not scary -- and they'll suck you in again.
