What To Do Tonight: Music, comedy and more

British lads The Kooks and American boys The Whigs team up for a rock 'n' roll concert tonight at Newport Music Hall, 1722 N. High St. Both bands put their own geographical spin on hooky indie rock. For the Brighton boys, that means nods to Britpop; for the dudes from Athens, it means Southern Rock roots. Should be a good solid rock show. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $20 at the door.

Over at Rumba Cafe, 2507 Summit St., locals Two Cow Garage will deliver their own brand of Southern-fried punk along with a straight-laced rock group called Ninja Gun from Valdosta, Georgia. 10 p.m., $5 for this one.

There's also a big experimental show at Skylab, 57 E. Gay St. #5, featuring the likes of Skull Defekts, Talk Normal and Boo and Boo Too. More details can be had here.

If you're looking for something different than the live music I normally pimp, try out the Funniest Person in Columbus Contest at the Funny Bone, 145 Easton Town Center. It starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets can be had here for $7.

And if you're staying in this Tuesday, TV offers the return of Eli Stone (10 p.m., ABC) the premiere of the intriguing Sex Change Hospital (11 p.m., WE tv) and the season finale of The Cleaner (10 p.m., A&E).
