New casino initiative in the works

One day after Ohioans overwhelmingly rejected Issue 6, proponents of the failed statewide ballot issue have announced they will try again to bring casino gambling to the Buckeye State.

My Ohio Now and Lakes Entertainment, a casino developer, plans to submit a revised initiative to the Ohio Attorney General by early next year in order to collect signatures to place it before voters in the November 2009 general election.

Issue 6, which would have allowed one $600 million casino complex in southwestern Ohio, was defeated by a 63-37 margin. [County results]
