What To Do Tonight: Dance Gavin Dance? Seriously? Is that really the band's name?
When the best show of the night is by one of those gravelly/syrupy screamo bands the scene kids are going crazy for, you know it's a down night for live music. Hey, every Monday can't be as killer as the last few Mondays. But yeah, the evening's marquee show is by the hilariously named Dance Gavin Dance, who actually have some decent hooks (and a guest spot from Deftones' Chino Moreno, which just makes me want to listen to the first three Deftones albums). They'll be at The Basement, 391 Neil Ave., with HiFi Horizon and City Lights, two like-minded local acts. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets cost $12.
This also seems like a good week to mention that Andy Shaw Band has been holding it down at Ruby Tuesday, 1978 Summit St., every Monday night.
And if you're at home during the 8-9 p.m. block or you want to break out the DVR, tonight Chuck returns (8 p.m., NBC), and I keep hearing about how geek comedy The Big Bang Theory (8 p.m., CBS) is better than anyone ever expected it would be.
