Song of the Day: The Killers

Sam's Town, The Killers' fantastic sophomore album, was a soundtrack to the North Strip of Las Vegas. The glamor was gone from their electro-indie debut; instead, the album was about being vulnerable, desperate, prone to vice. The lead single from Day & Age, which will be released Nov. 24, shows frontman Brandon Flowers even more fragile, pondering even grander themes of metaphysics and existence.

As a soul-searcher, he's capable. As a man who questions death and greed and what it means to be human and famous, he's superb. If it continues cutting deeper, as "Human" does, this record should be one of the year's best.
