What To Do Tonight: Check out something new

There aren't any big-ticket live shows coming to town tonight, so if you're looking for some entertainment, why not try the assortment of bands tonight at Skully's, 1151 N. High St.? I guarantee at least one of these acts will be new to you.

I'm familiar with AS*US, alternately known as Altered States of the United Snakes. Davey Highben's crew is always good for a few surprises, and their blend of punk and noise is highly appealing for folks who like their music coming apart at the seams.

I've never seen the other two bands on the bill, but I know Advanced Placement features members of the hip-hop ensemble Bottom Brick. (Product is involved — I know that much.) And I thought I knew a guy in St. Moses the Black, but now I'm not so sure. What I do know is I'm feeling their psych-pop-at-a-snail's-tempo modus operandi.

Anyway, these Tuesday shows at Skully's tend to be free, but there might be an up to $5 charge; the info simply isn't out there. But proclaiming a 10 p.m. showtime seems safe.
