  • If you missed the Annual Winter Hike sponsored by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, don't fret. Locally, rangers are hosting an easy, informative walking series at the Metro Parks. [Schedule]
  • Clintonville Outfitters will also have another opportunity to discover the rich outdoor resources of the Buckeye State tomorrow, Jan. 20, during its "Explore Ohio" class. Expect great info on where to hike, kayak and camp.
  • For those wanting to scale a few cliffs this summer, the Columbus Adventurers have rented time at Vertical Adventures on Saturday, Jan. 31. The Intro Class costs $15 per person and includes initiation fee, equipment and a day pass.
  • Waterfowl season along the Scioto River is heating up, says Columbus Audubon. Because it's one of the only fast-moving spillways providing unfrozen water, the Greenlawn Dam will be a great place to spot mergansers, ducks and cormorants.
