Song of the Day: Why is Anthony Hamilton always under the radar

Perhaps the best modern soul singer -- come on, he's resisted the Antares Auto-Tune! -- released an album at the end of last year, meaning a true gem ends up unrecognized on year-end lists. Mine included.

Like most of Hamilton's work, this album is one of beauty, depth and sounds from hip-hop, R&B, soul, jazz and funk julienned and simmered into a mix that Hamilton stamps his own with his versatile voice of power and grace. Like many of Hamilton's songs, this track borrows subject and style from numerous classics -- the desperation of Sly Stone's "If You Want Me to Stay" and the gratitude of Gladys Knight's "Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me."
