What To Do Tonight: Get mad at venues for not alerting you about shows

Haven't hyped a Bernie's show for a while, so here we go: Denver's post-hardcore/emo act The Photo Atlas will be at the notorious basement dive, 1896 N. High St., for a show tonight with The Stiletto Formal and probably a bajillion other bands that I could tell you about if Bernie's website was updated.

Speaking of negligent venues, supposedly Nebraska garage greats Brimstone Howl are playing tonight at The Summit, 2210 Summit St., but I didn't hear about it until this message board post from a confused music fan. I agree with "melikecheese" — the folks at The Summit are absolutely crazy if they think they can run a successful music venue without telling anybody about the shows. It worked for Carabar, at least for a while, but I think that's a special situation (free shows, specifically stated policy that bands are responsible for all promotion, etc.). Anyway, the "Heat of the Beat" rockers will be here tonight, but I can't tell you anything more.

You could go to those shows, or you could go to Nickelback. Heh.
