The Life and Times (whose video for "My Last Hostage" is embedded above) is the current project from former Shiner frontman Allen Epley. Fans of 90s underground favorites like Sunny Day Real Estate and Hum probably already know Epley's old band, and they'll likely dig his new one, which will play tonight at Skully's, 1151 N. High St. (Another worthy reference point would be late local indie rockers Miranda Sound at their dream-poppiest.) Ease the Medic and Louisville's The Photographic will play too. 8 p.m. doors, $7 admission.

Or, if you prefer metal, there's a humongous show at LC Pavilion, 405 Neil Ave. Lamb of God headlines over As I Lay Dying, Children of Bodom, God Forbid and Municipal Waste. In the words of Marty McFly: "Heavy." This costs $36 at the door, which opens at the very-metal hour of 6 p.m.
