Local Love: The Floorwalkers

I've become a big fan of The Floorwalkers over the past few months. The group's weekly Wednesday night gig at Ruby Tuesday, 1978 Summit St., is a can't-miss destination for expertly performed pop music that draws from the full spectrum of American music. They skew a little close to jam band territory from time to time, but it doesn't even matter because they're so good at what they do.

And when they lean in the other direction, toward pure, unadulterated rock 'n' roll, it works just as smoothly. Case in point: "Up the Vine," viewable in a video clip on their MySpace page. A staple of their more rambunctious second sets at Ruby's, the track shows the band can do dark as well as it can do light and breezy. Catch them playing it tonight, or see them with MojoFlo Friday at Rumba Cafe, 2507 Summit St.
