Pair of insects destroying local trees

The Columbus Dispatch today ran a great story about the gypsy moth and emerald ash borer, which pose significant threats to trees across the state. An especially interesting fact:

"Gypsy moth caterpillars devoured nearly every leaf on every tree in a 10-acre section of Highbanks Metro Park in May and June. Festooned with empty cocoons and surrounded by dead moths (they die after mating), the trees are just now growing new leaves."
