What To Do Tuesday: Sebastian & Normandie, Incubus & Duke Spirit
Looking for a change of pace? California kids Sebastian Clark and Normandie Wilson are more than willing to deliver you a curveball. Consider the cover of their new album, Music For Smart People: a mirror. (Get it?) The music inside is just as clever, from the Clark-led "A Better Combination of Words" (think Randy Newman + ELO + Stephen Malkmus + psychedelic soul) to Wilson's "Dirty Shame," which somebody already nailed by describing as Sinead O'Connor doing a smoky piano ballad. Joining this sprightly duo will be Super Desserts and Heavy Mole frontman Sam Craighead. 10 p.m., $5 at The Treehouse, 887 Chambers Rd.
Also, over at LC Pavilion, 405 Neil Ave., Incubus, who I used to love in 10th grade before we grew apart, will headline with support from The Duke Spirit, whose metropolitan rock 'n' roll is much more my speed these days. This one costs a whopping $46 at the door, which opens at 6:30 p.m.
