Mia Cucina, a new Italian bistro in New Albany, promises "bistro fare in a remarkably sophisticated, yet intimate environment."

Executive chef Mike Unnone will be serving up Italian fare inspired by his grandmother, like dijon-encrusted Lamb Rack, Beef Carpaccio, Chicken Pesto Pizza, Gnocchi, Lasagna Bolognese and Italian Wedding Soup. The expansive menu also includes pasta dishes with made-daily pastas, steaks, sandwiches, paninis, pizzas, salads and desserts.

There's also a European-style communal table where anyone can pull up a seat and meet someone new. The idea is for diners to connect and share conversation over a meal, and the table will seat 12-14 people.

You might recognize some of the names behind Mia Cucina: General manager Vern Blazek has worked at Brio, Ruth's Chris and Houston's; assistant general manager Jack Illig was formerly with P.F. Chang's, J. Alexander's and Macaroni Grille; and chef Unnone has worked at P.F. Chang's, Rio Bravo and Logan's Steakhouse.
