Throwback Thread: Redman

If you ever wonder how an aging, stoned-out emcee named Redman landed street cred and, eventually, marquee movie roles, look back to Dare Iz a Darkside, his 1994 release. This was the rapper's masterpiece and proof positive that you can be artistic while smoking roughly three pounds of weed a day.

Laced with humor, ganja talk and George Clinton samples, this album grooves from start to finish -- clouded in smoke and propelled by a smooth, lyrical flow. Redman rekindled his trademark style earlier this year with Blackout 2, a project with Method Man, but nothing approaches this easy, laidback classic.
