What To Do Tuesday: Vultures galore

Them Crooked Vultures, the high-powered supergroup featuring Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones, comes to LC Pavilion, 405 Neil Ave., tonight. There's no opening act, and the dudes are scheduled to take the stage at 8:45 p.m. Doors open at 7, and tickets (which are still available) cost $47.50. Read my extensive preview to get all psyched up.

Them ain't the only vultures in town tonight, though. New World Vultures, a new project emerging from the Cafe Bourbon Street crowd, will play at Bobo, 2216 Summit St., at 10 tonight alongside Psychedelic Horseshit and Smart Girls (formerly Thee Sons of Daughters). Based on New World Vultures' MySpace songs, it seems the self-described "slop rock" band is heavily influenced by the blunt, brainy, bizarre sounds of Guinea Worms, only with more keyboard power. Sounds sweet. And at $5, this show is a bargain compared to that other vulture venture.
